Sulphuric Acid

Sulphuric acid is an inorganic acid composed of sulphur (S), oxygen (O) and hydrogen (H), and its molecular formula is H2SO4. It is a clear, colourless or slightly brown and odourless liquid, soluble in water with release of heat. Corrosive to the skin, it requires the specific application of all the safety rules and prescriptions foreseen for its manufacturing, handling, storing, transport etc.

Sulphuric acid is one of the most important commodity chemicals or basic chemicals: produced in large quantities, it is mainly sold within the chemical industry and to other industries before being transformed into products for the general consumer. The combination of its relatively easy and cheap production with its properties, indeed, makes sulphuric acid essential for many industrial production processes.
